Cunoscut ca stalagmometru Traube reprezinta un dispozitiv ce constă dintr-un vas cilindric de sticlă care este prevăzut la partea inferioară cu un tub capilar. Orificiul de scurgere se termină cu o suprafaţă plană bine şlefuită. În partea superioară vasul cilindric se continuă cu un tub de sticlă terminat cu un tub de cauciuc. Pe tubul de cauciuc se află o clemă cu şurub, care reglează în mod convenabil viteza de curgere a picăturilor. Aparatul se fixează în poziţie verticală pe un stativ. Dispozitivul serveste la determinarea tensiunii superficiala prin metoda ruperii picaturilor.
